  7. SIS Dispatch automates package pickup and delivery routing of a fleet of
  8. trucks. The system was originally developed for blue print companies that
  9. continuously pickup and deliver drawings and blueprints during the day. When
  10. customers call for a pickup, the request is immediately entered into the
  11. computer by the receptionist. As jobs are completed in the plant, the delivery
  12. requests are also entered, notifying the dispatcher of jobs ready for
  13. routing

  15. These dispatch requests appear on the ``dispatch'' terminal and are printed on
  16. the ``dispatch'' printer. The dispatcher then assigns these requests to trips
  17. that are formulated with the aid of mapping coordinates. When drivers check
  18. out, they are given a trip slip and when they check back in their return milage
  19. is entered. This allows for productivity checks on all drivers. One dispatcher
  20. can easily handle hundreds of requests per day
  21.

  23. other kinds of businesses.
